Kitchen for hot shots

One thousand young chefs will compete in the 18th Annual New Zealand Culinary Fare at the ASB Showgrounds in Auckland on August 22-24. The three-day ‘hot kitchen’ competition is the largest of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere. Helen Emler of the Restaurant Association of New Zealand said the competition involved: “One hundred and twenty hours of comps with 72 competitions to choose from” and 2 judges. The competitions range from confectionary showpiece, innovative tapas and molecular gastronomy to high tea, table setting and duck carving. The event is free and open to the public.
