New Zealand-born Alice Beatrice Waymouth was a noted silversmith, enameler and jeweler. Her daughter Judith Hughes, now 89, is “a cabinetmaker and  designer who reached the top of a male dominated profession” and was dubbed “Miss Chippendale” by architect Sir Basil Spence.
