Walker’s inspiration

Karen Walker combined The Sound of Music with Bob Dylan and then threw in a snazzy sunglasses to create a collection dubbed “Sun Gods” at this year’s New York Fashion Week. Whether it’s futuristic goggles, retro-inspired tortoiseshell classics or fluro orange head turners, Walker has Gaga wannabes, the plaid set and festival princesses covered. Stylelist’s Katie Hintz-Zambrano reviewed the show: “Day dresses dominated (naturally), while the vintage florals were mixed with shrunken blazers, trim corduroy suits and dramatic jackets in white fluffy sheepskin. For more dressed-up occasions she offered blue-and-gold metallic dresses with black piping and, for everyday wear, absolutely stellar accessories.” US party photographer Mark the Cobrasnake and Parisian boutique owner Sarah Lerfel of Colette were front-row. Karen Walker was awarded the 2007 Prix de Marie Claire award for best creative talent. Karen Walker is stocked in over 350 stores throughout the world in cities including New York, London, Los Angeles, Sydney and Tokyo.
