The 17-year-old Wellingtonian so impressed scouts at the U-17 World Cup in South Korea last month that he secured an all-expenses paid trip to try out for both the Manchester United and the Everton youth squads. “It’s what all young footballers aspire to, a professional contract,” said Gleeson. “But the way I’m approaching it, I’m just going over there to do my best and gain experience. If anything else comes of it, it’s a bonus.”
