Ata Mara’s Janiene Bayliss a Decanter Influencer

The UK’s Decanter magazine recently highlighted a selection of twelve female talents in the wine industry from across the globe, which included New Zealander Janiene Bayliss, director and co-owner of Ata Mara in Central Otago.

“From her 20ha of vineyard land, Bayliss produces pinot noir, grüner veltliner, pinot gris and riesling,” Olivia Mason writes for the publication. “She is a founding member of ‘Women in Wine in Central Otago’ which provides a valuable platform and professional support for women in the industry.”

Bayliss told the Otago Daily Times she was unaware of Decanter’s list.

“I didn’t know anything about it,” she said. It was not until she saw who else featured that she understood the extent of what it meant, Alexia Johnston writes for the ODT.

“We are talking about the head of Champagne in France,” she told Johnston, noting the inclusion of Evelyne Roques-Boizel – president of Champagne Boizel.
