Producers of smash hit film Boy Ainsley Gardiner and Cliff Curtis took the independent producers of the year kudo at the New Zealand’s Screen Production and Development Agency conference in November. The cousins set up Whenua Films in 24 to encourage indigenous New Zealand filmmakers and stories. Gardiner also produced Taika Waititi’s first feature film Eagle vs Shark. Producer Rob Tapert was honoured as New Zealand industry champion. Tapert has brought in $745 million of offshore coin to New Zealand since handling 199s skein Hercules and Xena: Warrior Princess. He is currently lensing series Spartacus: Blood and Sand.
