Weisz on board for Lovely Bones

Oscar-winning English actress Rachel Weisz has signed on for Peter Jackson’s The Lovely Bones. Weisz will play the mother of the film’s dead narrator, in a role that has been significantly expanded from Alice Sebold’s book. The casting of Susie Salmon, Weisz’s daughter in the film, is the subject of great speculation in Hollywood, with observers waiting to see whether the role will be played by an unknown or established actress. Weisz has appeared in films such as The Mummy, About a Boy and The Fountain, and won the Best Supporting Actress Oscar for The Constant Gardener in 2005.
