The Kathryn Bigelow film The Hurt Locker, which earned her a best director and best film Oscars, featured Auckland Isaac Hamon, 33; the scene depicting Hamon running away from an explosion in an 80kg bomb suit is a centerpiece of the film’s promotion. He describes the explosion that has garnered him the attention as “reasonable”. “I felt it that’s for sure. I felt the shockwave,” he said. Hamon doubled for actors Ralph Fiennes, Guy Pearce in the explosion scene, and also for Jeremy Renner. Hamon worked with two other New Zealanders on Hurtlocker, Robert “Bomber” Young and Tony Marsh, part of a cadre of Kiwi stuntmen and women working on movies throughout the world.
