New York falls for Sand Dancer

Sand Dancer, Valerie Reid’s documentary about Christchurch sand artist Peter Donnelly, received an honourable mention at New York’s Tribeca Film Festival in March. The award is the latest in a string of wins for the film, including the Audience Choice Award at Taipei’s Golden Horse International Short Competition and Best Documentary at the MAGMA International Shorts Fest in Rotorua. Sand Dancer was also one of five international films selected for the Tribeca Drive-In Short Film Series, an outdoor festival held at the Rockefeller Center from June 19 – 22. Next up for Reid is the Sacramento Film and Music Festival in August.
