Kiwi Heroines Meet in New York City

They’ve taken the music and book worlds by storm and now Lorde and Eleanor Catton are sharing some bedtime reading.

Lorde, real name Ella Yelich-O’Connor, and fellow Kiwi Catton caught up in the Big Apple with the help of a couple of expat Kiwis known as the Twitter Aunties.

Lorde’s mother, Sonja Yelich, posted a photo of the pair snuggled under a duvet on Twitter.

The teen celebrated her 17th birthday today after rubbing shoulders with some of Hollywood’s brightest stars at a Museum of Modern Art Film Benefit last night.

“Performed at the moma’s benefit honouring tilda swinton. such an honour, that woman is phenomenal. a true heroine,” Lorde tweeted.

Catton became the youngest person to win the Man Booker award last month for her second novel The Luminaries.

The 28-year-old took away a $95,000 cheque for her success.
