Sam McCarthy, one half of Auckland duo Kids of 88, tells The Huffington Post’s Mike Ragogna the “whole ‘88’ thing sort of summed up the kind of cultural references and the bizarre things we enjoyed throughout our lifetime.” Ragogna says: “After catching your act at the One Night In Austin party at SXSW, my friend commented to me that Kids Of 88 was like The Rolling Stones meets electronica.” McCarthy: “Interesting, I haven’t heard that one before, but I’m not going to turn that down.” The group’s new album will be released through Sony in May. “Where do you want Kids Of 88 to be in about five years?” Ragogna asks. at the end of the day, I just want to be in a comfortable position where I can work on music full time, and make a living and enjoy it as much as I can.
