NZ Radio Wins at NY Festival Awards
Radio New Zealand and Newstalk ZB have taken out several awards at the New York Festivals® International Radio Program Awards, which honour the World’s Best Radio Programs℠.
“This year’s entries focused on the critical issues facing our world today, from breaking news to documentaries to investigative journalism. On every platform, there’s a real engagement in what’s happening,” said Rose Anderson, Executive Director of New York Festivals International Radio Program Awards.
Radio New Zealand Award winners:
Silver Award: Koroi Hawkins /RNZI / RNZ Cyclone Pam Coverage for ‘Best Coverage Of Breaking News Story’
Silver Award: Sonia Sly Glory in Their Eyes in the ‘history’ category
Bronze Award: Kim Hill in ‘Best Radio Personality: Network/Syndicated’
Bronze Award: Kathryn Ryan On-Air Talent in ‘Best Talk Show Host’
Bronze Award: Graham Kennedy WOMAD – Trinity Roots for ‘Best Live Sound’
Newstalk ZB Award Winners:
Gold Award: The ANZAC Centenary Tribute for ‘Best Writing’
Silver Award: The Crazy Kiwi Christmas Kids Show for ‘Best Children/Young Adult Program’
Silver Award: The ANZAC Centenary Tribute in the ‘history’ category
Bronze Award: The Crazy Kiwi Christmas Kids Show for ‘Best Director’
The BBC earned the Broadcaster of the Year award and TBI Media UK was awarded Production Company of the Year. The 2016 Grand Jury also “honored Athena Media, the BBC, and TBI Media with the Grand Award.”
“World-wide since 1982, New York Festivals Radio Program Awards honors the World’s Best Radio Programs℠, receiving entries from radio stations, networks, and independent producers from around the globe,” as stated on their website.
