Lucy Lawless – “Xena Reboot a Rumour”

“Twenty years after it first premiered as a Hercules spinoff, Xena: Warrior Princess could be returning to television”, writes Lesley Goldberg for The Hollywood Reporter.

Over the last few weeks rumours have been heard that the beloved Lucy Lawless adventure drama was in the extremely early development stages.

Lucy Lawless, who played Xena in the 90s series has now taken to Twitter to inform her fans that the reboot is just a rumour.

“Sorry, friends! News of a #Xena reboot is just a rumor. I’d love it to happen one day but it’s still in the wishful thinking stage,” tweeted Lawless.

In previous interviews the actress has emphasized that she would like a reboot to happen.

“I’ve been pitching (Xena) because … there’s a swell of interest still,” said Lawless.

“I think it’d be funny to have a reboot like Ash vs. Evil Dead — like middle-aged Xena in a muumuu with a bad attitude and a smoking habit.”

“It’s an insane international character. They’re fools not to bring it back. It’s funny, it’s sexy, it’s action,” said Lawless.

The original series starring Lawless as Xena was produced by Studios USA and Universal Worldwide Television. It was created by John Schulian and Rob Tapert.
