Auckland-born actress Lucy Lawless returns to ancient Rome as Lucretia in the prequel to Spartacus: Blood and Sand, Spartacus: Gods of the Arena, which premieres on American television channel Starz on January 21. Lawless was interviewed on AfterEllen.com about being an icon to the lesbian community. Lawless said: “I don’t think of them as ‘fans’ or ‘lesbians’. They’re great and they’re very supportive of me as distinct from the role. They forgive me for being the wrong [sexuality] and they accept me and I’m really grateful to them for that and for their continuing support.”
