Chalmers Brothers Promote Band With Car Wash

Originally from Hawkes Bay, the Los-Angeles-based Chalmers brothers, who perform as indie rock band Emperors Night, are promoting themselves by washing cars for free in exchange for a follow in their Instagram page, Richard Guzman reports for California daily newspaper, Whittier Daily News.

Anand, 32, Bud, 31 and Dhyan, 28, have washed over 200 cars and gained more than 1500 followers on Instagram – and the idea seems to be working, Guzman writes.

Bud said that through washing cars they have met people who work in the music industry and public relations companies that have offered them advice on marketing and moving their careers forward. They’re even sponsored by a couple of companies that have sent them free car wash products.

Once contacted, the band brings everything that’s needed for a car wash to the person’s home, and as they wash the car they play music on a boombox from their EP titled, Driving at Pace.

“Some people have messaged us offering to fly us to Colorado and Utah to wash their cars, so we’ve got a tour of car washing and music coming up,” Bud said.
