Designer Karen Walker caught up with Vogue Australia to talk about her new Diamond jewellery collection. “The inspiration behind all our jewellery designs is jewellery for modern occasions,” Walker said. “Karen Walker Jewellery isn’t about saving it for best. It’s about everyday luxury — fine jewellery you’ll wear while popping down the road in your jeans and ballets to get your takeout coffee.” Vogue asks how important fantasy is in Walker’s design process. “Narrative and whimsy is always an important part of our handwriting,” she said. “As a result our work’s always quite figurative.” Walker’s clothes have been seen on many celebrities including Lady Gaga, Björk, Sienna Miller, Natalie Portman, Alexa Chung, Beth Ditto, Michael Haneke and Jennifer Lopez.
