Diabetes aware walk

From New Zealand national park to New Zealand national park American Greg Lineham, 5, will walk over a two and a half month period to raise money for juvenile diabetes research. Lineham’s daughter, Halley, 19 and a University of South Carolina student, has had Type 1 diabetes since she was 1. Five years ago, a good friend, a 4-year-old avid cyclist, died of a heart attack right after calling his brother to tell him he felt strange. “I didn’t expect him to die,” Lineham said. The same friend, also a world traveller, had told him that New Zealand was the most beautiful place he ever had seen. So on December 28, Lineham will head to New Zealand, where he plans to walk almost 6km across the country, a small strip off Australia.
