Sky Tower to Join St. Paddy’s Day Festivities

The Auckland Sky Tower will go green on St Patricks Day, March 17 2013, says the Daily Mail. The ‘greening’ has been organised by the Irish Tourist Board to promote Ireland’s tourism. Other world landmarks going green include the Sydney Opera House, Niagara Falls, Leaning Tower of Pisa, Burj al Arab in Dubai, Table Mountain in South Africa and the Empire State Building. The ‘Welcome’ sign in Las Vegas and Copenhagen’s Little Mermaid statue will also glow green. The promotion is part of Ireland’s use of its’ strong identity abroad – which includes some 70-million-strong Irish diaspora – to help lift it out of an unprecedented economic crash’, writes  the Mail. Some 15% of New Zealanders are of Irish decent.
