The Modern Cook is more than “a series of mouth-watering recipes,” it also builds one recipe upon the next in a step-by-step guide to culinary genius. The reviewer’s only qualm is McVinnie’s suspiciously thin physique: “Must be the stress of writing such an appetising cook book.”
