New Zealand fashion label Zambesi’s Autumn/Winter 2013 collection, which previewed at New Zealand Fashion Week “harkened back to the 1980s … focus[ing] on a colour palette of black, grey, silver … with a touch of pink.” Sofia Ambrosia of The Examiner wrote: “A most unusual collection which will no doubt find its following in the hip, young New Zealand community as well as those of us outside of [the country] who will take inspiration.” The Brisbane Times’ Georgina Safe follows the Dunedin label Company of Strangers who, “channelled 90s sportswear influences with a collection of track pants and drop-crotch trousers in purple, orange and black that were teamed with open-weave knits to a soundtrack by 90s underground pioneers Sonic Youth.”
