Dame Judith Mayhew will not seek re-election to her position as head of the City of London Corporation, claiming she is “doing too much.” She’s not joking either – see above for BBC profile. Described as “one of Britain’s most powerful women,” Dunedin-born Mayhew has been a formidable force on the financial and political scene for some time now. Observer: “She may have relinquished the top job at the corporation but her mover-and-shaker role seems unlikely to diminish. Expect to see her name at the top of many more ‘power’ league tables.”
