George Lowe along with fellow NZer Ed Hillary – attended the 5th anniversary Everest celebrations in London, as one of 7 remaining members of the 1953 expedition. Lowe was the recipient of Hillary’s now legendary words: “We knocked the bastard off.” “It was,” he assures “meant in an affectionate way.”
