Michelin Guide’s Top Rating For Josh Emett’s Book The Recipe

The Recipe by New Zealand chef Josh Emett is the sole book inclusion in The Michelin Guide’s “Ultimate Holiday Gift Guide for the Foodie.” The portfolio contains 19 “gourmand-level gifts that are sure to please home cooks, spirits enthusiasts and gastronauts.”

Michelin records that “Acclaimed chef-turned-author Josh Emett had a brilliant idea: collect together the most iconic recipes from the most famous chefs in a single cookbook. The epic tome includes David Chang’s ramen, Jacques Pépin’s ratatouille, Dominique Ansel’s kouign-amanns and hundreds more dishes that will delight passionate home cooks who love a challenge.”

Emett, holder of three Michelin stars and known for opening Gordon Ramsay’s restaurant at the London Hotel in New York, brings together more than 300 of the most important classic recipes by 150 of the world’s most acclaimed chefs. These are the best new classics that have emerged during the last 50 years from culinary stars.Taken together, this is a compendium of the crème de la crème of blue ribbon cooking from the world’s top restaurants in an elegantly designed volume that will stand up to use in the kitchen but be classically beautiful to behold.

Each recipe has been tested by Emett in his home kitchen, and he includes guidance and advice for the home cook– discussing complexity, preparation, key elements, complements for planning a larger menu, and tips of the trade.

Featuring photography by Kieran Scott, the book is organized into 12 easy-to-follow sections from basics (stocks, sauces, and dressings), to grains and vegetables, meats, seafood, baking, and more. Each section includes a dedicated introduction with key knowledge elements.

In addition to several recipes by Emett himself, the book features contributions from other New Zealand chefs Matt Lambert, Peter Gordon, Al Brown and Ben Shewry. Famous New York chefs to appear in the book include Daniel Boulud, Daniel Humm, Eric Ripert, Jean-Georges Vongerichten, Lidia Bastianich, Martha Stewart, Nobu Matsuhisa and Ruth Reichl.

Emett and business partner Fleur Caulton operate several restaurants in New Zealand including Rata in Queenstown, and Hawker & Roll and Madam Woo.
