23rd Annual CAUTHE conference

Date: 11 - 14 February 2013

Location: Christchurch, New Zealand

Host: Lincoln University

Lincoln University’s Department of Social Science, Parks, Recreation Tourism and Sport will host the 23rd Annual CAUTHE conference in Christchurch, New Zealand, from 11 – 14 February 2013.

Lincoln University has a long standing history in the field of tourism. In 2010, we celebrated the 25th Anniversary of our Tourism, Recreation, Parks and Hotel Management programmes, and acknowledged our role as the longest standing tourism education and research programme in New Zealand. We also have a record of hosting successful tourism conferences – namely Akaroa (1998) and Hanmer (2008) NZ Tourism and Hospitality Research Conferences.

The theme of the 2013 conference is Tourism and Global Change. Tourism is inextricably linked to global change and its manifestations at a local level. Global change includes challenges arising from resource scarcity and climate change, but also relates to changing consumption patterns, innovations, emerging markets and changing geopolitics of tourism. The conference will provide an opportunity to link local aspects of tourism and hospitality to global trends, changes and challenges.

We are fortunate to have an enthusiastic core of tourism staff who will be convening the conference and who are looking forward to their engagement with CAUTHE 2013.
