Kaikoura Tops Airbnb’s 2019 Global Trending Destinations List

The latest Airbnb forecast has found that the “trending destinations for 2019 are places where the increased ‘healthy,’ more sustainable and authentic tourism will benefit residents and travellers alike.” New Zealand’s Kaikoura has topped the trending destinations list of 19 destinations to visit in 2019.

“Heavily damaged by a 7.8 magnitude earthquake in 2016, this coastal town in the South Island is staging a marvellous comeback with the strongest increase in both bookings and search on our list,” Airbnb report.

“We are absolutely thrilled to learn that Kaikoura has topped Airbnb’s global trending destinations list for 2019,” said Glenn Ormsby, General Manager Destination Kaikoura.

“After a challenging two years and working hard to ensure our reputation as New Zealand’s premier marine destination remains high in the minds of prospective visitors, to emerge as the top trending visitor destination in 2019 is a wonderful accolade for the community. To be included on such a prestigious list of emerging visitor destinations in the world is humbling and very much appreciated.”
