Manukura: The White Kiwi

Take a look at this adorable white kiwi chick, Manukura (meaning ‘of chiefly status’). The kiwi was born at Pukaha Mount Bruce National Wildlife Centre, north of Masteron. Manukura is not albino, but a rare white North Island Brown Kiwi whose parents both carry a recessive white feather gene. In this video the chick is just learning how to feed on its own.
