Fletcher Construction of New Zealand has been awarded a US$7 million contract for the replacement of 33 homes destroyed in last year’s 8. earthquake and tsunami in American Samoa. Fletcher Construction has done business in the US territory for nearly 3 years and has worked with Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) in the past. “The awarding of this contract brings us another step further in helping the people of American Samoa get back on their feet,” said Nancy Ward, administrator of Oakland, California-based FEMA Region IX, which oversees and coordinates federal relief efforts in the US territory.
