Velocity is Everything

Business leaders have things the wrong way round according to New Zealand-based Kevin Roberts, chief executive worldwide of Saatchi & Saatchi. They spend far too much time assessing information and making decisions, and far too little actually making things happen. “Execution is everything. Velocity is everything,” Roberts says. “In this world where things happen overnight, strategy is dead,” he said at a recent Institute of Directors event. “The more time you spend on strategy, the more time you spend on competitors eating your lunch.”
