Travel + Leisure Takes in the Best of Auckland

Parnell’s Pasture was recently named one of the World’s Best Restaurants by Travel + Leisure and Food & Wine. “It’s worth planning a trip around,” New Zealand-based writer and editor Ellen Falconer recommends in a story about the best places to visit in Auckland.

“The harbour city sits atop an active volcanic field, so a connection to nature permeates through all aspects of life here,” Falconer writes for Travel + Leisure.

“It’s only fitting that Auckland produced a restaurant like Pasture, with its focus on fermentation, local produce, nose-to-tail butchery, and natural New Zealand wines. But there are plenty of other places in Auckland to experience New Zealand-made, sustainable goods.”

Falconer suggests starting at K Road where, “you’ll find a slew of vintage shops”. In Ponsonby, “wrap up your day of retail at Annabel’s [wine bar].”

“And if there’s one spot that locals recommend for out-of-towner friends, it’s Piha.”
