Russell Crowe to Star in The Mummy Remake

“Russell Crowe has confirmed he will star in “The Mummy” reboot as Dr. Henry Jekyll alongside Tom Cruise,” as reported in KPUG 1170.

The movie will be quite different from the Brendan Fraser-fronted “The Mummy” trilogy, according to the New Zealand-born actor. The reboot is “set to incorporate a number of classic monsters from Universal Studios’ history, including the ‘Invisible Man,’ ‘Wolf Man’ and ‘Creature from the Black Lagoon’”.

“It’s very interesting, what they’re gonna do with that stuff. I’ve had a couple of chats about it with the director (Alex Kurtzman),” said Crowe. He added that The Mummy will be seriously terrifying.

“How they’ve pulled all of this stuff forward into a contemporary world and how they’re building it out from there, and how all of the different characters interweave into each other’s stories, it’s fantastic.”

According to KPUG 1170, reports suggest Johnny Depp was also due to star in “The Mummy” reboot alongside Sam Worthington and Jake Johnson.

“The Mummy” is due to be released in June, 2017.
