Photographer Nicola Dove Shoots Iconic Bond Pic

Film stills photographer Nicola Dove, who hails from Nelson, has spent 20 years taking photos on sets. She’s photographed the likes of Dame Judi Dench, Liam Neeson, Dame Maggie Smith and Johnny Depp, Caroline Williams reports for Stuff. The opportunity to work on the latest Bond movie, No Time To Die, came in 2019.

Dove, and her family, had not long returned to New Zealand from London with the intention of settling down.

But: “You don’t turn down Bond,” Dove told Stuff. The family moved back to Europe.

Dove’s photo of Daniel Craig as Bond walking away from his Aston Martin down a London street ended up being the first official photo released from the making of the film. Within hours of being posted online, the photo was spread across news websites all over the world.

“We knew we had a really iconic shot,” she said.

In November 2020, Dove launched Film Stills Academy to help others break into the industry.
