When Greg Turner left last week’s Wales Open before it even started he accused, in his unique way, the European Tour of stifling healthy debate by placing commercial interests before course quality. On the Ryder Cup in Ireland: “The shame of it is that by staging the cup for the first time, Ireland has a huge opportunity to buy the world a beer – and it’s giving them a pint of lager instead of Guinness.”
