The Topp Twins, who are touring the UK in February, say the secret to their longevity and success is because of their strength and independence, and that because they are “old-fashioned” entertainers they appeal to people of all ages from all walks of life. Last year, the pair received honourary doctorates from the University of Waikato. “We probably won’t use the titles, but our characters Ken and Ken are going to,” they told TNT Magazine UK. “Ken Moller thinks he’ll be a gynecologist – he’s not qualified, but he’ll take a look for ya.” The Twins also comment on the recession and the good that has come from it. “People are getting back to basics. In New Zealand, a lot more people are growing vegetables and trading goods and services within their communities; it’s a beautiful thing.”
