Chef Amber Rose Shares Celebrity Culinary Secrets

A dozen years ago, British actors Jude Law and Sadie Frost hired self-taught New Zealand-born chef Amber Rose to feed their brood in London, and her career has climbed from there. Rose is now Gywneth Paltrow’s personal chef.

Recently, Rose, Frost and Frost’s sister, Holly Davidson, teamed for the book Nourish: Mind, Body & Soul, featuring Rose’s recipes for everything from banana-and-almond smoothies to brownies, albeit ones made with sweet potatoes, cacao nibs and honey.

“I don’t count calories,” Rose insists. “I look at the way certain foods affect your body.” She avoids processed foods, carbohydrates and grains in favour of nutrient-rich stuff like fish, grass-fed beef, fruits and vegetables. She’s also big on rose water, yoghurt, dates, cashews and coconut oil, a Paltrow favourite (the actress even gargles with it).

The book includes recipes for the chicken soup Rose says Paltrow and then-husband Chris Martin requested “when she was feeling a bit tired or run down.”

Rose is also food stylist for Paltrow’s weekly online lifestyle publication, Goop.
