Central Otago Violinist Named Principal in Leipzig

Alexandra-born violinist Jenny Banks has been named principal second violin of the Gewandhaus Orchestra in Leipzig, Germany, one of the oldest and largest civic orchestras in the world. University of Otago Music Department senior lecturer Peter Adams believed she was the first New Zealander to play in the orchestra. Banks completed a Master of Music degree at the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston.
