White Water Wins

New Zealand 2012 Olympic slalom kayaking team member Mike Dawson has taken first place in the Bud Light Lime Steep Creek Championships at this year’s Teva Mountain Games in Red Cliff, Colorado. Dawson, from Tauranga, won the men’s competition with a combined time of 3 minutes, 58.06 seconds. Louise Jull, who won second place in the women’s competition, also hails from New Zealand. Jull said the bottom section of the course was the more difficult. “If you mess up the bottom, you could really mess up the race,” she said.
