Van Gisbergen Joins McLaren Factory Line-Up

V8 Supercars star Shane van Gisbergen has been added to the McLaren line-up and will race in Europe as a factory driver this season.

His exact role is yet to be announced, but it is expected that the New Zealander will compete in the majority of the Blancpain Endurance Series events with Von Ryan Racing.

“It is great to have Shane on board for the 2015 season.” “He has shown himself to be a great talent in Australia, and we are confident that he can recreate that success in Europe” said McLaren GT director Andrew Kirkaldy

The Kiwi is available for four of the five rounds, with only June’s visit to Paul Ricard, France, clashing with a V8 Supercars event.

The season kicks off at Monza, Italy in April and also visits Silverstone (UK), Spa (Belgium) and the Nurburgring (Germany).

Shane Van Gisbergen is a New Zealand race car driver, who has competed in the Australian-based International V8 Supercars Championship as well as the New Zealand-based BNT NZ Supertourer’s Hankook Super Series. One of his biggest achievements so far has been his victory at the 2005/2006 New Zealand Formula Ford Championship.
