Top of the Lake Receives Eight Emmy Nods

New Zealand director Jane Campion mini-series Top of the Lake has received eight Emmy nominations, including Outstanding Miniseries of Movie, Outstanding Writing for a Miniseries and Outstanding Directing in a Miniseries. The New Zealand-shot Top of the Lake follows a detective as she investigates the disappearance of a 12-year-old pregnant girl. The series, which received wide acclaim following its release at Cannes earlier this year, also received nominations for the powerful performances by Elisabeth Moss (pictured), playing the series protagonist, and for Peter Mullan (pictured), whose performance as the assumed villain Matt Mitcham have received high praise.  Moss, who is also nominated for her performance on AMC’s Mad Men, said she was ‘shocked’ by her nominations. The Emmy ceremony will be held in Los Angeles on 22 September.
