Super Image of Cosmic Lunar Event

Auckland photographer Simon Runting captured this once-a-year cosmic event which lit up the New Zealand night sky as the full moon passed at its closest point to Earth, making it appear 14 per cent larger and 30 percent brighter than usual. Runting’s image was included in the Guardian Eyewitness series.
