Slamming Sixes Galore

Masterton-born batsman Jesse Ryder, 27, smashed a world record 16 sixes against Australia A in Brisbane on 27 November. Ryder blasted 175 off 137 deliveries primarily against Australia A’s spinners and part-time bowlers at Allan Border Field. His 16 sixes equalled the record jointly held by former Australian allrounder Andrew Symonds and New Zealand’s Graham Napier for the most sixes in a first-class innings. Ryder plays domestic cricket with Wellington after crossing there from Central Districts in 2004 and is a member of their first-class and List A teams.
