Palmerston North 21-year-old freestyle motorcross champion Levi Sherwood has become the youngest-ever winner of the Red Bull X-Fighters tour championship beating French rider Thomas Pagès on Cockatoo Island in Sydney. “All I came here to do was to try to clinch up a championship,” Sherwood said. “I knew beating Thomas was going to be really difficult. He definitely made it a challenge, and to come here for another win is amazing.” Sherwood and Pagès were tied in the overall rankings coming into Sydney, with 235 points each. With the win, Sherwood becomes one of New Zealand’s highest-paid sport stars.
