Possums Take Tennessee

New Zealand string band the Johnny Possum Band will perform at the Music on the Square festival in downtown Jonesborough, Tennessee on 28 September. Kingsport Times-News describes the band: “The roots of bluegrass music may lie deep in Appalachian soil, but the genre’s influence stretches as far away as New Zealand, where the Johnny Possum Band got its start in 2005. Featuring Bryan Peters on vocals and mandolin, Keith Taylor on guitar, Margaret Pickering on fiddle and vocals, Sean Whitaker on five-string banjo and Jonathan Rosanowski on upright bass, the Johnny Possum Band released its fifth CD, Short Summer earlier this year.”
