On Set with One Beautiful Caster

New Zealand-born actress Alice Englert, the daughter of Academy Award-winning film director Jane Campion, stars in Warner Bros.’ supernatural thriller Beautiful Creatures, a film adapted from the first book of the Caster Chronicles series, which is being filmed in New Orleans. “Lena [Duchannes] is a young girl who also happens to be a caster, and she’s moved around – she’s moved to a lot of small towns and problems follow her,” Englert told MTV of her character. Englert conceded that underneath her supernatural surface, Lena struggles with issues any typical teen would: “I think Lena is like most girls when you feel massively insecure.” Englert made her screen debut in the short film The Water Diary, written and directed by Campion. Beautiful Creatures hits US theatres on 15 February 2013.
