New Zealand’s Mystical Caves

“One of the most stunning natural wonders exists within” New Zealand’s mystical Waitomo Caves, writes Kat Romero in an article on Express.co.uk.

The caves on their own are amazing, but the glow-worms, which emit a bright phosphorescent light, make them even more incredible and turn the caves into a natural light display.

“Over the past year, I have been back and forth to Waitomo’s Ruakuri Cave to master the art of photographing these magnificent little creatures – it’s been quite the experience,” said photographer Shaun Jeffers.

“When the headlamps are out and all you can see are the glowworms, you can’t help but feel like you’ve stepped into James Cameron’s Avatar Pandora, it’s just unreal!”

Photographing the glow worms was not easy and required the photographer to submerge himself and his tripod in cold water for up to 6-8 hours a day.

“It was totally worth it,” he said.

The stunning light display makes you want to hop on the next plane to New Zealand, according to the article.
