New Zealand Wins in World Travel Awards

New Zealand has won several awards in this year’s World Travel Awards – Australasia. Air New Zealand has been named the best airline in the region, Queenstown has been recognized as the top destination in Australasia and New Zealand as a whole has been named ‘Leading Adventure Tourism Destination’.

SKY CITY Auckland was awarded the ‘Leading Casino Resort’, Annandale in Akaroa the ‘Leading Experiential Luxury Property’, Eagles Nest the ‘Leading Villa Resort’ and The Residence at The George in Christchurch the ‘Leading Luxury Hotel Villa’.

”Being consistently recognised by the industry as leading the way in Australasia is hugely gratifying, but the big challenge now is to get Australian travellers to understand that Air New Zealand is much more than a trans-Tasman carrier,’ said Christopher Luxon, Air New Zealand chief executive, as reported in The Otago Daily Times.

The World Travel Awards “acknowledge, reward and celebrate excellence across all key sectors of the travel tourism & hospitality industry”.
