Making Music in Two Worlds

“Being a native of Auckland, singer-songwriter Simon Spire has had a foot in the door of two places since his transition to New York City,” The Aquarian Weekly’s Alessandra Donnelly writes. Donnelly asks Spire how growing up bridging two worlds shaped him as a musician. “‘They are such different cultures even though we think of them as being the same … New Zealand is so small; there is kind of a nice, tidy music industry as a whole than in other countries and other markets. In the States, it’s just so much more unyielding.’” Spire’s debut album Four-Letter Words was released in 2012.
