Legions of Fans Greet Author Lang Leav in KL

Best-selling poet and author Lang Leav’s cult following of devoted fans from all over the world, began with her poetry being shared by millions on Tumblr and eventually culminated with the publication of Love and Misadventure in 2013. The New Zealander was in Kuala Lumpur recently where legions of fans gathered at a Q&A session and book signing.

“There will be new prose and poetry for next year, and will be titled Sad Girl,” Leav says.

Leav, who also illustrates her books, writes evocative poetry, which expresses the intricacies of love and loss to many a heartbroken fan’s soul.

“The hardest piece to write for me, well I can’t remember what it was called, but it was a piece that was really popular online. It ends with something like ‘’this is how much I can end with you’.”

Leav’s handcrafted book, Charlie’s Widow, was presented to film director Tim Burton in 2010 at the opening of his Wonderland exhibition at the Australian Centre for the Moving Image.

Leav’s latest poetry collection Memories, with original illustrations by the author, is out now.
