Hayley Westenra ‘Thrilled’ to be Back in Taiwan

New Zealand soprano Hayley Westenra has told the Taipei Times that she is thrilled to be in Taiwan again and is looking forward to her performances. The 25-year-old pop and classical singer, on her seventh visit to Taiwan, told a media conference that it was “so, so wonderful” to be back, says the Taipei Times. Westenra will perform in Taipei, Greater Tainan and Greater Kaohsiung. She will sing in English, Japanese, Mandarin and Taiwanese. The concert in Greater Tainan will be held at the Eternal Golden Castle. Audiences will see the soprano sing with the castle’s historic gate and flowers in the background, Niu Hsiao-hua, the head of Management of New Arts, the tour organiser, told the Taipei Times. ‘I think this is going to be a beautiful backdrop for the audience and for me as a performer’, Westenra said. Hayley is teaming up with Taiwanese singer-songwriter Deserts Chang’ Baby for the tour. Her own band and the Evergreen Symphony Orchestra will accompany her on the tour.
