New Zealand’s international students industry is flourishing again after a recent downturn in numbers. Smart marketing strategies and the lower New Zealand dollar are luring overseas students back. Compared to offshore competitors, New Zealand is a world leader in export education, says Education New Zealand. The market for foreign students makes up nearly 7 per cent of the country’s export earnings, bringing in $2.30 billion per annum. Chinese student Adam Qi is studying travel and tourism at Auckland University of Technology. He said there were a number of things that attracted him to New Zealand. “I wanted to improve my knowledge of different cultures and because New Zealand is a multicultural country, it was a very good choice. The environment is also very beautiful and the exchange rate was good.”
