Discover the Secrets of Auckland with Annabel Langbein

Local television personality and author, celebrity chef Annabel Langbein reveals her favourite things to do in Auckland, including walks along the city’s windswept west coast beaches and browsing shops in the back streets of Newmarket.

“Head off Broadway and wander down Teed Street,” Langbein recommends, “right along Osborne Street and left on to Kent Street. Muse is my fave boutique, with lots of international designers to choose from.”

Langbein also suggests a visit to the Wynyard Quarter, the “newly revitalised hub north of Victoria Park for a taste of waterfront life.”

“There are fancy boats to admire, fresh sea air to breathe, fish markets with seafood straight off the boat and a funky maritime-themed playspace for kids. In summer, check out Silo Park’s night markets and outdoor cinema every Friday.”

Langbein includes a visit to the eateries and bars on Ponsonby Road, and a “fabulous burger” at Burger Burger, as well as taking in a view of the city from the top of One Tree Hill.

Langbein has authored 18 cookbooks, which are published in numerous languages and have been sold all around the world. Her 2010 book The Free Range Cook was available in more than 70 countries and sold more than 110,000 copies.
